Job Purpose
The Programme Associate supports the International Organization for Migration (IOM) IBG Unit by assisting in the achievement of unit objectives and the successful day-to-day implementation of project activities. Working under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator and national programme officers, the role is crucial for executing project tasks, managing administrative processes, and contributing to the overall success of migration management initiatives. This position ensures that project activities are carried out efficiently and in line with IOM's rules and regulations, supporting the unit's contribution to humane and orderly migration.
Responsibilities
Assist and contribute to the IBG Unit's project activities, ensuring close collaboration with stakeholders and managing day-to-day administrative and logistical processes. Report regularly on challenges and progress. Support the planning and organization of events such as conferences and workshops. Prepare analytical notes, draft research reports, briefing notes, and policy papers. Assist in the preparation of concept notes and project proposals. Conduct research and compile information on migration management developments. Monitor project activities and update project plans as needed. Provide informal translation of correspondence and documents. Maintain project-related files, both physical and electronic. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience in project management, particularly in migration management, is required. Proven knowledge of national/international policies, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential. Experience liaising with governmental authorities and institutions is beneficial. Familiarity with the diplomatic environment and experience in writing papers or briefings are advantageous. Good computer literacy and the ability to travel are also noted.
