Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant supports the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in achieving the objectives and results of the IBG Unit. This role is crucial for the successful day-to-day implementation of the unit's project activities. The incumbent will assist in monitoring project progress, compiling data, and preparing essential documentation. By providing administrative and programmatic support, the role contributes directly to the effective delivery of IOM's migration management initiatives and ensures that projects are implemented efficiently and according to plan, aligning with IOM's mandate to assist governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
Assist and contribute to the IBG unit in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information and data on specific project topics. Monitor project budgets per activity, verify fund availability, obtain necessary approvals, and update budget-related information. Prepare analytical notes of meetings, draft research reports, briefing notes, and policy papers. Support the preparation of concept notes and project proposals. Assist with procurement and logistics, monitor project activities, and update project plans as needed. Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Respond to general information requests and maintain project-related files, both physical and electronic. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience in project management, particularly in migration management, is required. Familiarity with national/international migration policies and experience liaising with governmental and international institutions are advantageous. Skills in analytical thinking, interpersonal communication, organization, and computer literacy are necessary. Experience in writing papers and briefings, working in the region, and travel capability are also beneficial.
