Project Associate (emergencies And Disaster Management)
Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Emergencies and Disaster Management) provides essential day-to-day support to the Emergencies and Disaster Management (EDM) Unit in Port Moresby and field offices. This role is crucial for the effective implementation of project activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks. The associate will assist in monitoring project interventions, reviewing field documents, gathering data for reports, and coordinating activities. This position contributes to IOM's mission of promoting humane and orderly migration and providing humanitarian assistance in complex emergencies within Papua New Guinea.
Responsibilities
Support and monitor the timely delivery of project interventions, including assessments, distributions, and monitoring activities. Review field-generated documents such as ward-level plans and Disaster Risk Reduction strategies for clarity and completeness. Gather inputs from Field Offices to compile and draft consolidated situation reports. Support activity coordination by liaising with Field Offices and senior staff on operational requests. Assist in organizing staff participation in external meetings, preparing notes and reports. Coordinate and organize key cluster meetings, including logistical arrangements and documentation. Contribute to evidence gathering through post-assistance monitoring and displacement-tracking activities. Provide general support to the EDM unit as needed.
Work Experience
Experience supporting humanitarian response, disaster risk reduction, emergency management, shelter/NFI, CCCM, or community stabilization. Experience with field activities like assessments, distributions, monitoring, and coordination. Familiarity with reviewing field reports and consolidating information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with cluster coordination or displacement tracking is advantageous.
