Senior Communications Associate
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. In Türkiye's East, Southeast, and Mediterranean (ESEM) Region, IOM implements programs supporting migrants, refugees, and host communities. This Senior Communications Associate role supports IOM's work in the ESEM Region, reporting to communications officers in Gaziantep and Ankara.
Job Purpose
The Senior Communications Associate supports the development and implementation of IOM's communication and visibility activities within the ESEM Region of Türkiye. This role is crucial for producing and packaging high-quality multimedia content, including human-interest stories, photographs, and videos, to effectively communicate IOM's work and impact. The associate will draft and consolidate communication inputs for reports and visibility products, ensuring compliance with branding and donor requirements. By conducting field visits and coordinating with program staff, the role ensures timely and quality documentation of IOM's activities and results, contributing to enhanced public understanding and support for migration management initiatives.
Responsibilities
The Senior Communications Associate is responsible for supporting IOM's communication and visibility activities under the guidance of the National Communications Officer. Key duties include producing multimedia content such as human-interest stories, photographs, videos, and social media assets, ensuring compliance with IOM branding and donor visibility requirements. The role involves drafting and consolidating communication inputs for reports and visibility products, and preparing visual communication materials. Field visits will be conducted to gather content highlighting IOM's activities and beneficiary impact. Coordination with program staff is essential for information gathering and audio-visual documentation. The associate will also maintain the digital asset library, support event planning, and provide guidance to junior staff as needed.
Work Experience
Requires proven experience in communications and media, preferably within the development and humanitarian sectors. Experience in developing publications, promotional materials like infographics, and assisting with public events is advantageous. Familiarity with managing social media platforms and producing human interest stories, photo essays, and video stories is expected. Multilingual candidates (English, Turkish, Arabic) are preferred, with translation and interpretation experience being a plus.
Skills
Excellent writing and editing skills for human interest stories and social media content. Proven photography and videography skills. Ability to manage social media accounts for reputable organizations. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Audition, Illustrator, and/or InDesign is an asset.
