Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cameroon requires a Supply Chain Assistant to support its operations in Yaounde. This role operates under the Resource Management Officer and Supply Chain Officer, focusing on delivering quality goods and services efficiently and in a timely manner, adhering to IOM's procurement and supply chain principles.
Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Assistant in Yaounde is responsible for managing and executing supply chain activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services to beneficiaries. This includes overseeing dispatch operations, maintaining vehicle records, ensuring compliance with policies, and providing recommendations for improving supply chain efficiency. The role supports the overall mission of IOM by upholding principles of best value for money, accountability, integrity, transparency, and fair competition in all procurement and supply chain processes within the Country Office and Sub Offices.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the coordination of daily dispatch activities for intercity and intracity missions, ensuring smooth operations by planning missions and assigning drivers. The role involves coordinating with relevant teams for road status updates and managing driver schedules, including weekends and holidays, while tracking extra hours. Maintaining up-to-date vehicle registration, licensing, and all related documentation, such as insurance policies and repair records, is crucial. The assistant will monitor logbooks, track mileage against fuel consumption, and generate vehicle maintenance requisitions. Additionally, the role involves generating incident reports for accidents, coordinating with insurance for repairs, and providing daily reports on vehicle status. Input for driver evaluations and acting as a backup for the Airport team focal person are also part of the duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes procurement and logistics, working with vendors and service providers, and managing assets. Experience with IOM/UN Procurement and Logistics Rules and Procedures is advantageous. Experience in warehouse management and working within an international organization is also considered a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in computer literacy, ability to collaborate with national and international institutions, strong report writing skills, and excellent communication and negotiation abilities are essential. The candidate must also be able to establish realistic requirements to meet IOM's needs.
