Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cameroon, based in Yaoundé, seeks a Supply Chain Assistant (Asset Management). This role operates under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Officer, contributing to the organization's Supply Chain Management (SCM) objectives. The position ensures the effective and efficient implementation of SCM policies and resource management within the Country Office and Sub Offices, aiming to deliver quality goods and services to beneficiaries.
Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Assistant (Asset Management) in Yaoundé is responsible for overseeing and executing supply chain activities, with a specific focus on asset management, to support IOM's mission in Cameroon. This role ensures that goods and services are procured and delivered to beneficiaries efficiently, at the optimal price, and in a timely manner, aligning with Supply Chain Management (SCM) objectives. The incumbent will implement IOM's policies and instructions governing supply chain resources, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of SCM operations within the Country Office and Sub Offices. Key principles guiding this work include Best Value for Money, Accountability, Integrity, Transparency, and Fairness.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Assistant will support the Senior Supply Officer in strengthening asset and inventory management processes, maintaining an accurate asset register, and ensuring timely updates in the ERP system. Responsibilities include conducting physical inventories, reconciling discrepancies, and managing the full asset lifecycle from receipt to disposal in compliance with procurement regulations. The role involves preparing and submitting asset and inventory reports, supporting the Asset Disposal Committee, and coordinating asset maintenance and repairs. Additionally, the assistant will aid in procuring services, drafting tender documents, monitoring service contracts, and providing logistical and administrative support. Other duties include acting as Bid Receipt Focal Point, preparing procurement monitoring reports, and processing payments.
Work Experience
Required experience includes procurement and logistics, working with vendors and service providers, and managing asset processes. Experience with IOM/UN Procurement and Logistics Rules and Procedures, warehouse management, and working in an international organization are considered advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in computer literacy, ability to collaborate with national and international institutions, strong report-writing capabilities, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to define realistic requirements to meet IOM needs.
