Job Purpose
This role supports the Supply Chain Officer and Assistant by performing routine maintenance on office generators, solar panel systems, and general office and guesthouse facilities. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability of electrical, water, and sewer infrastructure. This includes conducting regular inspections, performing repairs, maintaining logbooks, and reporting on maintenance activities. The position also involves training support staff on safe generator and solar system operation and providing technical assistance as needed, contributing to the smooth functioning of IOM's facilities in Aden.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance on office generators and solar panel systems, including oil and filter changes, wire inspections, and ensuring sustainability. Maintain a logbook for generator maintenance and spare parts, and inspect solar panels for damage. Assist with general maintenance within IOM offices and guesthouses, including electrical repairs, and monitor equipment for safety and efficiency. Undertake general maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure, including pump repairs. Conduct daily inspections of buildings and outdoor areas, perform minor repairs, and report issues. Train gardeners and guards on safe generator and solar system operation. Install new electrical points and emergency lights. Liaise with the IT unit for electrical issues. Provide monthly reports on work undertaken, problems encountered, and potential recurring issues. Perform general generator maintenance regularly and during outages. Provide technical support to contractors. Undertake other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance, facilities support, or mechanical trades.
Skills
Proficiency in handling power tools and basic electrical measuring instruments safely. Ability to maintain basic logbooks and record keeping.
