Project Associate (RSU)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization, promotes humane and orderly migration. Türkiye hosts a large migrant and refugee population, presenting integration challenges. The "Provision of Jobs and Socio-Economic Inclusion to Support Transition to Formal Employment in Türkiye" project, implemented by IOM in partnership with government bodies, aims to drive economic growth and improve livelihoods by facilitating the transition to formal employment for migrants and the host community.
Job Purpose
This Project Associate role, under the supervision of the Senior Project Associate in Gaziantep, is crucial for supporting and coordinating the successful day-to-day implementation of the "Provision of Jobs and Socio-Economic Inclusion to Support Transition to Formal Employment in Türkiye" project. The project's overarching goal is to address the complex challenges of social and economic integration for a significant migrant and refugee population in Türkiye. The incumbent will contribute to driving economic growth, promoting formal employment opportunities for Syrian Under Temporary Protection (SuTPs), Persons Under International Protection (PuIPs), and host community members, and ultimately improving overall livelihoods within the country. This involves supporting a comprehensive strategy that includes financial incentives, training, awareness campaigns, and inter-institutional coordination, while ensuring respect for diversity and prioritizing vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, analyzing, and presenting project-related data. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, verifying fund availability, and obtaining necessary approvals. The role involves acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with diverse internal units and external parties to process administrative actions. The incumbent will draft status reports, identify delivery shortfalls, and suggest remedial actions. Additionally, they will draft correspondence, prepare reports, briefing notes, and other documentation. The role requires responding to information requests, maintaining files, organizing meetings and workshops, and participating in relevant conferences. Collaboration with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders is essential. The Project Associate will also assist in monitoring implementing partners' work and report non-compliances, and may provide guidance to junior staff.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups is also necessary. Prior work experience within international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas is required. Proficiency in UN and bilateral donor programming, as well as knowledge of financial rules and regulations, are also necessary. Fluency in English and Turkish (oral and written) is essential for this position.
