Field Security Associate

This role sits within the Security office, assisting in the implementation and coordination of security and administration tasks.
Job Purpose
The Field Security Associate supports the Senior Field Security Officer in implementing and coordinating security and administration-related services within the IOM Security office in Libya. The role is crucial for ensuring high-quality and accurate work, promoting a client- and results-oriented approach in operational functions. The Associate plays a key role in implementing audit recommendations for the IOM Safety & Security function. This position requires close collaboration with other Local Security Assistants and the Senior Field Security Officer, as well as maintaining professional relationships with other UN agency staff to ensure consistent service delivery and information exchange.
Responsibilities
Maintain effective working relationships with UNDSS, host government agencies, and local authorities to gather security information. Assist in collecting, updating, and communicating security situation information for Libya. Support the development and implementation of country-specific security plans, contingency plans, SOPs, and contribute to the BCP. Monitor staff compliance with safety and security protocols and mandatory training. Conduct security surveys of IOM offices. Support the Country Office Warden system, maintaining staff lists, call signs, and ensuring communication systems are operational. Disseminate safety and security information promptly. Ensure safety and security communication equipment is functional and maintained. Assist in reporting security incidents affecting IOM personnel, premises, assets, and operations, including preparing security reports. Support security awareness training and provide security orientations for new personnel. Maintain an orderly filing system for confidential correspondence and security documents, including a database of relevant contact details.
Work Experience
Relevant professional experience in the humanitarian, public, private, or corporate sector is desirable. Experience in providing security coordination and administrative support for an international organization is also desirable. Experience with radio communications and successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course are considered advantageous.
Skills
Ability to collaborate with senior government security counterparts and relevant stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening and effective response.
