Job Purpose
The Migration Health Nurse will support the Migration Health Unit and Health Assessment Programme (HAP) in Bangkok, under the direct supervision of the Senior Migration Health Nurse and overall supervision of the Senior Migration Health Physician. This role is crucial for carrying out duties and responsibilities within the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Phnom Penh. The purpose is to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of health assessment services to migrants, contributing to IOM's mission of promoting orderly migration and providing essential health services. The nurse will play a key role in medical examinations, data collection, and providing health information to migrants.
Responsibilities
Perform daily nursing activities within the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC), including medical examinations (vital signs, weight, height, visual acuity), sample collection (blood, urine, sputum), imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and treatment referrals. Provide detailed information and explanations to migrants regarding the health assessment process and necessary treatments. Ensure accurate identification and follow-up through comprehensive history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification. Adhere to Health Assessment Programme checklists and SOPs, maintaining universal precautions. Verify sample transportation to laboratories. Provide pre- and post-counselling on TB and HIV. Prepare administrative reports and assist with pre-departure preparations. Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience is required for Bachelor's degree holders, and five years for Diploma holders. Excellent technical skills, including phlebotomy, are necessary. Experience in Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing, or public health is advantageous. Proficiency in MS Office suite is required.
