Project Associate
Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a UN-related organization and the leading UN agency in migration. It promotes humane and orderly migration, saves lives, protects people on the move, and drives solutions to displacement. The role sits within IOM Türkiye, specifically in the Gaziantep Sub-Office, supporting a project focused on migrant inclusion in Türkiye's green economy transition.
Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of a project funded by the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) titled “Supporting Migrants’ Inclusion in Türkiye’s Transition to A Green Economy.” The Project Associate will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator and MECR National Officer, collaborating with the LMI unit and other relevant support units. The primary purpose is to ensure the effective and efficient execution of project activities in Gaziantep, contributing to IOM's mandate of promoting orderly migration and supporting vulnerable populations within the context of Türkiye's economic transition.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in project activity implementation and monitoring, retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project-related data. The role involves monitoring budgets, verifying fund availability, and obtaining necessary approvals. The Project Associate will act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external parties. This includes drafting status reports, correspondence, and other documentation, as well as responding to information requests. The position requires organizing meetings and workshops, participating in relevant discussions, and coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders. Monitoring implementing partners and reporting non-compliance are also key duties, along with providing guidance to junior staff.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience within international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas is required. Prior experience working with MSMEs is necessary. Desirable knowledge includes areas of climate change, green transition, circular economy, and sustainable development. Familiarity with UN and bilateral donor programming, as well as knowledge of financial rules and regulations, is also required.
