Job Purpose
The Project Assistant (Case Management) role is crucial for supporting the protection and assistance of unaccompanied migrant children (UMC) and beneficiaries of international protection in Greece. This position directly contributes to strengthening national protection mechanisms through the National Emergency Response Mechanism (NERM). The role involves providing case management guidance, operating the NERM Hotline, facilitating referrals and accommodation for UMC, and supporting tracing and reunification efforts. By ensuring effective implementation of NERM, the position helps identify and assist UMC in precarious situations, thereby safeguarding vulnerable individuals and contributing to IOM's mission of promoting humane migration.
Responsibilities
Provide case management guidance and technical support to field teams operating under the National Emergency Response Mechanism (NERM). Operate and manage the NERM Hotline, serving as a primary point of contact. Facilitate the referral and accommodation of unaccompanied minors in emergency shelters, coordinating with local authorities and prosecutors. Conduct regular follow-ups with field actors to ensure appropriate protection and care arrangements for beneficiaries. Support the tracing and reunification processes for unaccompanied children in collaboration with field partners. Contribute to coordination meetings and thematic discussions, reporting on trends, challenges, and best practices in NERM implementation. Perform other related duties as assigned to support project objectives.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of one year of related work experience in a humanitarian setting. Experience in coordinating protection activities and understanding protection SOPs is preferred. Experience liaising with governmental authorities and stakeholders, and in international organizations, is also desirable. Demonstrated ability to draft formal correspondence and project reports is necessary.
Skills
Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including spreadsheet and database software. Experience with web-based management systems. Strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles. Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, holidays, and weekends.
