Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brazil is coordinating activities in Porto Velho, Rondônia, to respond to migratory flows from Venezuela. This role supports the Chief of Mission and National Project Officer, working collaboratively with Country Office units to manage and implement project activities effectively.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate is responsible for coordinating IOM Brazil's activities in Porto Velho, addressing the migratory flow from Venezuela. This involves assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring effective liaison with various stakeholders, and contributing to the overall success of IOM's mission in the region. The role requires diligent oversight of project execution, budget management, and reporting to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and timely response to the needs of migrants and affected populations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. The role involves compiling, analyzing, and presenting project data, monitoring budget implementation, and proposing adjustments. The incumbent will act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external parties. Responsibilities also include drafting status reports, correspondence, and other project documentation, as well as organizing meetings and training sessions. Maintaining effective liaison with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders is crucial. The role includes monitoring implementing partners, providing input for SOPs and concept papers, and potentially supervising other staff.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with Brazilian government agencies, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. A good knowledge of project management, monitoring, and evaluation principles is necessary. Experience in team coordination/supervision and working with vulnerable groups is also required. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.

Skills include effective collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders, excellent organization, analytical and creative thinking, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and proven team management and coordination competency. The ability to work with limited supervision is also essential.
