It collaborates with various partners to save lives, protect migrants, and facilitate pathways for regular migration. This role supports project activities under the supervision of the National Project Officer and Project Assistant.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities related to migration and displacement. The Social Worker will play a key part in ensuring the effective delivery of services to migrants and refugees, addressing their protection needs, and facilitating access to essential resources. By conducting vulnerability assessments, developing action plans, and maintaining case files, the position directly contributes to safeguarding vulnerable populations and promoting their well-being within the framework of IOM's mandate. The role also involves close cooperation with medical and psychosocial teams, ensuring comprehensive support for beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include daily monitoring of service providers to ensure contractual compliance and beneficiary needs are met. The role involves cooperating with medical and psychosocial teams, reporting field challenges, and adhering to IOM's internal rules and Standard Operating Procedures. Conducting vulnerability assessments for migrants and refugees, addressing protection needs, and referring cases to specialized agencies are core duties. The Social Worker will manage protection cases, maintain updated case files, inform beneficiaries of progress, and ensure accurate database recording. Mapping services, ensuring access for migrants and refugees, and developing individual action plans are also required. Participation in team meetings to discuss case management and risks is essential, along with escorting beneficiaries to health facilities when necessary.
Work Experience
Previous experience in a similar social work role is preferred. Familiarity with providing direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees is advantageous. Experience working within a multi-cultural environment is also beneficial for this position.
Skills
Proficiency in standard office software applications (e.g., MS Office) is required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines is also essential for this role.
