Job Purpose
The Movement Operations Assistant supports IOM's core mandate of organized movement of persons requiring international migration assistance. This role is integral to the Movement Operations Unit in Norway, contributing to activities such as refugee resettlement and migrant return. The Assistant facilitates all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM's auspices, ensuring compliance with agreements with governments and partners. By providing essential support to movement management, the role directly contributes to IOM's mission of facilitating safe and orderly migration pathways, assisting vulnerable individuals, and upholding the organization's commitment to supporting people on the move.
Responsibilities
The Movement Operations Assistant will primarily assist in scheduling and arranging travel for beneficiaries and staff, including managing travel documentation and notifications. Responsibilities include providing airport services such as identity verification, assisting with immigration and customs procedures, and escorting individuals. The role involves preparing reports, movement updates, and statistics. Additionally, the Assistant will support arrangements for escorts of vulnerable individuals, provide pre-departure information, and handle administrative tasks related to movement management, such as filing receipts. Maintaining confidentiality, adhering to SOPs, and informing supervisors of progress and issues are also key duties.
Work Experience
Prior experience in Movement Operations or transportation is required. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, or victims of trafficking is essential. Previous work experience with international organizations or governmental/non-governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail and organizational abilities. Self-motivated and objective-driven.
