Job Purpose
The incumbent will support the implementation of IOM Malaysia's diverse programme activities, which span migrant protection, border governance, counter-trafficking, labour migration, and business and human rights. This support will be delivered through effective information management and data support functions. The role is crucial for promoting responsible business conduct and protecting migrant workers within global supply chains. The position operates under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Migration Data and Information Management Officer, working in close coordination with relevant units within the IOM Malaysia Mission to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting data collection across programmes by configuring and maintaining data collection tools, and processing, cleaning, and validating data from multiple sources. The role involves maintaining and updating programme databases and information systems, ensuring data entry, backups, and adherence to IOM standards. Data analysis will be performed to support monitoring and decision-making, including trend analysis and disaggregation. Assistance will be provided to M&E activities, indicator tracking, and results monitoring. The incumbent will prepare data visualizations and dashboards, contribute data to reports, and coordinate with internal teams for data alignment. External liaison for data sharing and support for capacity-building on data management are also key duties.
Work Experience
Essential experience includes data collection, information management, and supporting report writing. Desirable experience involves supporting development/humanitarian projects, liaising with governmental and international institutions, working with vulnerable groups, and prior experience in international humanitarian or development organizations in a multicultural setting.
Skills
Proficiency in data collection, processing, analysis, and database management is required. Skills in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Kobo, ODK) are necessary, with Python knowledge being an advantage. Strong computer skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential. Fluency in English and Bahasa Melayu is mandatory.
