Responsibilities
The Field Project Associate will play a crucial role in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, with a strong focus on data integrity. This involves verifying and monitoring the quality of data collection, ensuring robust quality control, and taking necessary corrective measures. A core duty is to retrieve, compile, summarize, analyze, and present comprehensive information and data on specific project topics. In coordination with the DRU team, the associate will develop detailed work plans and activity schedules for data collection, processing, and analysis across all agreed coverage areas. The role also entails drafting regular status reports, identifying any shortfalls in delivery, and proposing effective remedial actions. Furthermore, the associate will facilitate regional endorsement and maintain effective communication with government focal points to ensure smooth operational execution. Responsibilities extend to drafting correspondence on project issues, preparing and updating various forms of documentation including reports, briefing notes, graphics, and statistical tables. The position requires responding to complex information requests, managing files and records, and organizing key events such as meetings, workshops, and training sessions. The associate will actively participate in meetings and conferences, coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other relevant stakeholders. Monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting non-compliances is also essential. Finally, the role involves gathering timely information on displacement and population mobility, supporting Flow Monitoring Operations, and providing guidance and training to new or junior staff members.
Work Experience
Candidates should possess experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. A minimum of three years' experience in field-level data collection, research, and community-based response approaches is required, particularly in rural and remote areas of Ethiopia. Knowledge of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) tools, Open Data Kit (ODK), and Kobo technology is also necessary. Prior work with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. Knowledge of financial rules and regulations. Ability to transfer knowledge and skills on data collection, processing, and analysis. Computer literacy: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access). Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
