Job Purpose

This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of IOM staff and the delivery of essential items within Al-Mokha, Yemen. The driver will operate and maintain IOM vehicles, ensuring they are in good running condition, properly fueled, and equipped for operational needs. This position directly supports IOM's mission by facilitating logistical operations, enabling staff to carry out their duties effectively and securely. The driver's adherence to traffic laws, maintenance schedules, and confidentiality protocols is vital for operational continuity and the safety of passengers and cargo, contributing to the overall success of IOM's programs in the region.

Responsibilities

The primary duties include providing transportation for IOM staff and delivering mail or packages as requested. The incumbent is responsible for the daily maintenance and cleaning of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is always in optimal running condition, including checking fuel, oil, water, battery, and tire pressure. They must perform routine repairs and alert supervisors to any necessary maintenance. The driver will operate and maintain emergency communication equipment, keep a detailed vehicle logbook recording movements, fuel consumption, and mileage, and report all repairs. Additionally, the role involves behaving professionally with passengers, assisting them with entry/exit and baggage, obeying all traffic laws, and responding to medical emergencies en route. Confidentiality and discretion in discussions are paramount.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is required. Experience within a humanitarian agency is preferred.

Valid Heavy & Light Vehicle Driver’s License, Vehicle Maintenance, Defensive Driving, Communication, Confidentiality, Emergency Response.
