Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Indonesia has been operational for over 40 years, working on diverse migration-related activities. The Disaster and Climate Resilience (DCR) unit focuses on preparedness, prevention, and emergency response, collaborating with government and international partners to enhance capacity and support national cluster systems. This Project Associate role is within the DCR unit in Pekanbaru.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate, reporting to the Senior Project Associate, will support the implementation of humanitarian assistance operations in Pekanbaru and surrounding areas. The role involves verifying that all project components align with approved work plans and budgets, ensuring humanitarian standards are met. A key function is to assist the field team in mainstreaming protection principles and mitigating protection concerns within refugee-hosting sites. This position requires close collaboration with IOM staff and partners to ensure protection is central to response efforts and to strengthen the overall protection environment for refugees, contributing to IOM's mission of promoting humane and orderly migration.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of humanitarian assistance operations according to work plans and budgets. Conduct monitoring and quality control of activities implemented by the field team, partners, or vendors, adhering to humanitarian standards and IOM guidelines. Maintain partnerships with local authorities and other local stakeholders. Support the mainstreaming of protection principles and reduction of protection concerns at refugee-hosting sites, working with staff and partners to ensure protection centrality. Identify and report any challenges or risks to beneficiaries, staff, or partners promptly. Adhere to IOM data protection principles and policies. Collect and maintain relevant information for program monitoring and reporting, including data analysis and summary sheets. Monitor administrative procedures in coordination with finance and procurement departments. Support coordination and logistics for field visits by delegations. Participate in local coordination meetings and perform other required duties.
Work Experience
Experience is required in supporting humanitarian or development programs, particularly those assisting displaced populations. Experience with government coordination, cash-based interventions, conducting household surveys, and implementing community feedback mechanisms within humanitarian response settings is also necessary.
