Junior Project Assistant (TIP)
Organizational Context
IOM, established in 1951, is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. The Counter Trafficking, Smuggling of Migrants, Integrated Border Governance (IBG) and Resettlement Unit within IOM Brazil supports activities in these areas. This role provides administrative, operational, and technical support under the supervision of the National Officer in Brasília.
Job Purpose
The Junior Project Assistant will provide crucial administrative, operational, and technical support to IOM Brazil's Counter Trafficking, Smuggling of Migrants, Integrated Border Governance (IBG), and Resettlement portfolio. This role is essential for the successful implementation, coordination, and follow-up of activities related to migration management, migrant protection, family reunification, and resettlement programs. The incumbent will liaise with internal units, government counterparts, and external partners, assist in preparing reports and operational documents, and support monitoring, data organization, and administrative processes. The position also contributes to organizing meetings, workshops, and capacity-building activities, ensuring timely project execution in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
Support operational, administrative, and coordination aspects of activities related to Counter-Trafficking (CT), Smuggling of Migrants (SoM), Family Reunification (FR), Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM), and Integrated Border Governance (IBG), including monitoring implementation and results. Assist in executing migration management, migrant protection, family reunification, and resettlement activities according to IOM policies and donor requirements. Participate in meetings and maintain liaison with government counterparts, UN agencies, partners, and stakeholders. Support the preparation, drafting, editing, and translation of reports, briefing notes, and other documents. Assist in preparing progress reports and meeting summaries. Undertake duty travel for program support and monitoring. Provide logistical and administrative support for trainings, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives. Support data collection, organization, and information management. Assist with administrative and financial processes, including procurement and travel arrangements.
Work Experience
Experience is required in supporting migration management, counter-trafficking, and smuggling of migrants projects, coordinating with government, UN agencies, and civil society. Experience in technical writing, reporting, and drafting documents is necessary. Professional experience in migration, humanitarian, or protection contexts is beneficial. Familiarity with IOM's mandate and migration activities in Brazil, particularly in protection, resettlement, and border governance, is advantageous.
