Senior Project Assistant (TIP)
Organizational Context
IOM, established in 1951, is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. The Brazil office's Counter Trafficking, Smuggling of Migrants, Integrated Border Governance (IBG), and Resettlement Unit supports activities in these areas, coordinating with national authorities and other partners. This role sits within this unit, reporting to the National Officer in Brasília.
Job Purpose
This role provides essential administrative, operational, and technical support to IOM Brazil's Counter Trafficking, Smuggling of Migrants, Integrated Border Governance, and Resettlement portfolio. The incumbent will assist in the implementation, coordination, and follow-up of various migration management and protection programs, including family reunification and resettlement initiatives. Key contributions include liaising with internal and external stakeholders, preparing reports and operational documents, supporting monitoring and data management, and facilitating the organization of meetings, workshops, and capacity-building activities to ensure timely and effective program delivery in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Assistant will support the operational, administrative, and coordination aspects of activities related to Counter-Trafficking (CT), Smuggling of Migrants (SoM), Family Reunification (FR), Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM), and Integrated Border Governance (IBG). This includes monitoring implementation, tracking activities, and following up on results. The role involves assisting in the coordination of migration management and protection activities, participating in meetings, and maintaining liaison with government counterparts, UN agencies, and partners. Responsibilities also include preparing, drafting, and editing reports, briefing notes, and other documents, as well as assisting with progress reports and meeting summaries. The position requires undertaking duty travel for program support and monitoring, providing logistical and administrative support for trainings and workshops, and assisting with data collection, organization, and information management. Additionally, the role supports administrative and financial processes related to program implementation.
Work Experience
Required experience includes supporting migration management, family reunification, resettlement, counter-trafficking, and border governance projects in coordination with various stakeholders. Experience in technical writing, reporting, and working in migration or humanitarian contexts is essential. Knowledge of IOM's mandate and relevant legal frameworks is also important.
