Organizational Context

IOM, a UN-related organization, leads in migration. IOM Ukraine's MHPSS programme offers comprehensive support, integrating emergency response, recovery, and resilience through psychological consultations and community-based activities. This role, within the Response, Recovery, Resilience (3R) and MHPSS unit, focuses on videography to enhance awareness and capacity building for these vital initiatives.

Job Purpose

The consultant videographer will significantly contribute to IOM Ukraine's Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Disability Inclusion Programme. The primary purpose is to develop a concept note and produce eight impactful videos: seven short (3-5 minutes) and one longer (20-25 minutes) piece. These multimedia products will serve critical functions, including capacity building, awareness-raising, and advocacy. They will promote how IOM delivers safe, accessible, and evidence-based MHPSS services to conflict-affected populations, including persons with disabilities. The videos will illustrate emerging psychosocial needs, demonstrate inclusive community-based approaches, showcase the impact of donor-supported interventions, reinforce IOM’s alignment with international standards, and motivate staff and partners to integrate MHPSS and disability inclusion practices across all programming stages. This role is crucial for enhancing communication and visibility for IOM's humanitarian and development efforts.

Responsibilities

The Videographer will produce a comprehensive package of eight videos (seven short, one long) covering MHPSS and Disability Inclusion themes, delivered in multiple formats (16:9, 9:16, 1:1) with bilingual subtitles. Key duties include conducting pre-production planning, defining objectives, and preparing scripts and storyboards. The consultant will coordinate internally and externally with IOM teams, partners, and beneficiaries, ensuring logistics and safe field missions. Responsibilities involve obtaining informed consent, preparing technical equipment, and capturing high-quality field footage and structured interviews while adhering to IOM’s protection principles and ethical standards. The role requires recording contextual B-roll, managing and securing data, and editing and producing final videos with colour correction, sound design, motion graphics, and branding elements. The videographer will submit drafts for review, incorporate feedback, finalize and export deliverables, obtain final clearance, prepare for dissemination across IOM platforms, and archive all materials for future institutional use. All content must ensure rights-based, non-stigmatizing, and inclusive representation, with accessibility features.

Work Experience

Over 8 years of experience in filming, editing, and producing high-quality video content across documentaries, reportage, institutional videos, cultural projects, and advocacy pieces. Demonstrated ability to independently manage concept development, scripting, field planning, interviews, filming, sound recording, colour correction, editing, graphics, subtitling, and final delivery. Experience working in varied environments, including sensitive contexts, and with UN agencies or NGOs is an asset.

Skills

Advanced skills in editing, audio design, motion graphics, colour grading, and multi-format exporting using professional software (e.g., Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects). Ability to translate complex topics into simple, accessible visual narratives. Excellent interview and community interaction skills. Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality outputs. Capacity to operate autonomously while coordinating effectively. Availability of professional filming gear, audio equipment, and licensed editing software. Fluency in English is required; Ukrainian and/or Russian language skills are an advantage.
