IOM Türkiye's Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program, active since 2009, facilitates the humane return and reintegration of migrants. This role provides essential support to the AVRR program activities.
Job Purpose
This role supports IOM Türkiye's core Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program, which has been operational since 2009. The program's primary objective is to ensure the orderly and humane return and reintegration of migrants who wish to voluntarily go back to their countries of origin. A significant aspect of IOM Türkiye's work involves developing national legislation and operational frameworks for AVRR, in close partnership with the Presidency of Migration Management, other governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, and diplomatic missions of countries of origin. The incumbent will contribute to the effective implementation of these crucial AVRR activities under the guidance of senior staff.
Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will provide vital interpretation services, translating between Arabic and English or Turkish for AVRR program activities, ensuring neutrality and accuracy. They will offer clerical support to AVRR staff during counseling preparation and assist with ad hoc written translations. The role involves supporting migrant intake processes and providing general information about the AVRR program and its procedures. Additionally, the assistant will contribute to reporting and statistics, maintain professional conduct, uphold IOM's Standards of Conduct and confidentiality, and assist in referring vulnerable migrants with special needs. The position also requires identifying and suggesting improvements for efficiency and client service, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is advantageous. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental, or governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is also beneficial. Experience in translation within case management processes is a plus.
Skills
Fluency in Arabic and Turkish or English (oral and written) is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting is necessary. Knowledge of migration-related subjects and humanitarian project implementation is advantageous.
