Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency focused on promoting humane and orderly migration. It works with governments and partners to save lives, protect displaced persons, and facilitate legal migration pathways. This role supports the implementation of projects related to operational foresight and local preparedness for climate displacement within IOM Philippines.

Job Purpose

This Project Assistant role is crucial for supporting the implementation of key initiatives within IOM Philippines, specifically focusing on Operational Foresight and Supporting Local Preparedness in the Context of Climate Displacement. The position contributes to vital activities such as community engagement, service monitoring, and data collection, directly impacting the organization's ability to address climate-induced displacement. By providing essential technical and logistical support, the role ensures the smooth execution of project activities, including field missions and emergency response efforts. The successful candidate will play a part in maintaining project documentation and coordinating with stakeholders, thereby strengthening IOM's capacity to assist vulnerable populations and enhance preparedness in climate-affected regions.

Responsibilities

The Project Assistant will support the implementation of activities under the Risk Index for Climate Displacement and Climate Catalytic Fund, including stakeholder and community engagement, service monitoring, and data collection. Responsibilities include preparing communication letters, field reports, attendance sheets, and other necessary documentation. The role also involves providing logistical support for field missions, trainings, and coordination meetings. Maintaining and organizing project databases, files, tools, and records is essential for accurate activity documentation. The assistant will coordinate with community members and local stakeholders to facilitate field activities and support emergency response teams during disaster response operations.

Work Experience

Required experience includes supporting field activities such as assessments, distributions, community consultations, or service monitoring. Experience working with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups is also necessary. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.

Skills

Key skills include knowledge of humanitarian operations, cluster systems, and response standards. The ability to manage high-pressure situations, competing priorities, and rapidly evolving emergencies is also essential for this role.
