Job Purpose
The Project Associate (MHPSS) will support the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) mission by contributing to the implementation of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities for migrants. This role is crucial in ensuring that vulnerable individuals, including survivors of gender-based violence, human trafficking, unaccompanied minors, and those with serious health conditions, receive appropriate care and assistance. The position involves direct support to screening, case management, and referral processes, ensuring that services are delivered in a dignified and confidential manner, aligning with IOM's commitment to protecting people on the move and fostering humane migration.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate (MHPSS) will conduct individual protection screenings for arriving migrants, documenting information related to protection needs, including GBV, human trafficking, unaccompanied minors, and MHPSS requirements. They will support case management activities, including follow-ups, record maintenance, and referrals to specialized service providers. The role involves assisting in the implementation of safe post-arrival assistance, explaining available services to beneficiaries, and ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Additionally, the associate will support data collection for assessments on migrant populations, social inclusion, and MHPSS, and assist in preparing reports, summaries, and project documentation. Field visits for service monitoring and liaising with relevant authorities are also key duties.
Work Experience
Experience in supporting mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities is required, with experience with migrant populations being an advantage. Knowledge of MHPSS program activities, protection mechanisms, and referral procedures is essential. Experience in migration, return, reintegration, trafficking, and smuggling of migrants is also beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with cultural norms and migration issues in the country are expected.
