The Project Associate role supports the implementation of migration and development interventions in Algeria under the Chief of Mission and Programme Manager.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate - Migration and Development is responsible for supporting the implementation of migration and development interventions in Algeria. This includes contributing to activities under programmes like NAMAD III and other initiatives focused on livelihoods, reintegration, migration governance, and diaspora engagement. The role provides essential operational, administrative, and coordination support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of activities targeting migrants, returnees, and host communities, working closely with various programme units such as AVRR and protection.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including livelihoods, reintegration, and related programme components. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and analyze project data to support planning and reporting. Provide assistance in implementing skills development and employability activities, including vocational training and entrepreneurship support. Monitor project budgets by verifying fund availability and updating financial information. Act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with diverse units and external parties. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, and suggest remedial actions. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and other documentation. Respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings and workshops. Participate in meetings to coordinate implementation activities with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Assist in monitoring Implementing Partners and report non-compliance. Provide guidance to junior staff.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is also necessary. Prior work experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is considered an advantage.
Skills
Knowledge of information verification and validation for accuracy and compliance. Ability to organize and coordinate multiple assignments, maintain records, and meet deadlines. Competence in applying rules, procedures, and guidelines for operational issues. Skilled in preparing clear correspondence and reports. Capable of establishing effective working relationships and communicating professionally with diverse stakeholders.
