Project Associate, Immigration And Border Governance (IBG)

The Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Unit in IOM Egypt supports governmental authorities in enhancing border management capacities through training, equipment, and policy support, focusing on integrated and rights-based approaches.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate, Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) will provide essential administrative and logistical support for the implementation of IBG projects within IOM Egypt. This role is crucial for the effective execution of initiatives related to maritime security, integrated border management, border control, trade and development, and international cooperation. The incumbent will assist in organizing training sessions, workshops, and other capacity-building activities, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to the overall success of the program. By managing documentation, data collection, and communication, the Project Associate directly supports the unit's mandate to enhance border management efficiency and promote humane migration practices in Egypt.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of assessments and capacity-building activities, including support with training materials for the IBG Programme. Organize training sessions, study tours, workshops, and roundtables. Develop and standardize programme-related templates such as reports, questionnaires, and forms. Draft meeting minutes, correspondence, and reports, and maintain programme documentation. Monitor the implementation of activities and update the team workplan. Provide logistical and administrative support for off-site training, workshops, and meetings. Collect and enter data for capacity-building activities and beneficiary information, adhering to data protection principles. Provide informal translation and interpretation between Arabic and English. Respond to general inquiries and maintain organized files and records. Undertake travel for project activities, monitoring, and liaison with counterparts.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience organizing trainings, workshops, and meetings. Familiarity with border management, trade facilitation, or customs functions is advantageous. Experience supporting donor-funded projects and administrative/financial processes within an international organization is beneficial. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing operational requirements.
Skills
Knowledge of migration-related subjects and the UN system. Understanding of border and migration management concepts, particularly in the Egyptian context. Excellent writing and communication skills in both Arabic and English. High level of computer literacy.
