Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of IOM's mandate by assisting in the coordination and monitoring of project activities. The Senior Project Associate will ensure that project work proceeds according to plan, analyze implementation challenges, and propose adjustments to modalities and work plans based on field realities. The position contributes to the effective financial, administrative, and technical management of projects, aligning with IOM policies and donor requirements. By facilitating capacity-building workshops, maintaining stakeholder liaison, and preparing timely reports, the role ensures project objectives are met and contributes to the organization's overall mission of promoting humane migration and supporting vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
Independently assist and coordinate project implementation, monitoring activities to ensure adherence to plans, and analyzing difficulties to recommend adjustments. Monitor budget expenditures with Finance Unit support, verifying fund availability and maintaining records of approved budgets and revisions. Coordinate financial, administrative, and technical project aspects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements. Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of capacity-building workshops for internal and external parties. Maintain liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other relevant stakeholders. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and narrative/financial reports, ensuring timely submission of status reports. Identify and document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to SOPs, policies, concept papers, and new project development.
Work Experience
Experience collaborating with government authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience in migration, protection of vulnerable individuals, or international cooperation. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations or multicultural settings is advantageous. Knowledge of the Moroccan institutional system, UN, and associative work in Morocco is beneficial. Experience in project management, monitoring, and evaluation is required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and M&E tools. Experience with programme management tools (e.g., MiMOSA, RiMS). Excellent communication, analytical, and synthesis skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and as part of a team, as well as independently. Willingness to work flexible hours.
