Organizational Context
IOM, in collaboration with national and local authorities and partners, is implementing the "Helios+: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market" project in Crete. This initiative, under the "Crete 2021–2027" Programme, aims to integrate beneficiaries of international and temporary protection into Greek society through various support activities.
Job Purpose
The Independent Living Facilitator role is crucial for the successful implementation of the "Helios+" project in Crete. The purpose of this position is to directly support beneficiaries of international and temporary protection in their transition to independent living. This involves facilitating their integration into Greek society by assisting with essential aspects such as securing housing, navigating administrative processes, and providing ongoing support to ensure a stable and successful independent living experience. The role contributes significantly to the project's overall goal of promoting employability, social cohesion, and inclusion for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The Independent Living Facilitator is responsible for engaging with beneficiaries in reception facilities, conducting information sessions, and enrolling eligible individuals into the project. This includes coordinating visit schedules and communication strategies with relevant stakeholders like RIS. A key duty is assisting beneficiaries with apartment searches and necessary administrative procedures. The role also involves conducting regular apartment monitoring visits, either in person or via video call, within the designated area. Furthermore, the facilitator must collect data and means of verification for the Independent Living component and provide timely reports to the Project Assistant and relevant departments, while also performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of previous work experience is required. Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred.
Skills
Computer literacy in standard software applications. Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles. Possession of an adequate combination of knowledge, education, training, and skills for the role. A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage.
