Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Philippines seeks an Accounts Payable Associate. This role operates within the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) payment processing framework, reporting to the National Treasury Officer and under the overall supervision of the Chief, GSSC Finance Hub.
Job Purpose
The Accounts Payable Associate is responsible for executing approved electronic payment runs within the GSSC payment processing framework. This involves preparing and processing payment requests, monitoring execution status, and coordinating with various units and offices to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of funds. The role contributes to the efficient financial operations of the organization by adhering to established schedules, workflows, and internal controls, while also supporting audit requirements and continuous improvement of payment processes.
Responsibilities
Execute approved electronic payment runs in treasury and banking systems according to GSSC schedules and controls. Prepare and process Payment Processing Requests (PPRs) based on validated transmittals. Monitor payment execution, follow up on pending or failed transactions, and perform GL reviews. Act as the treasury payment processing counterpart to Accounts Payable – Invoice Processing, coordinating on payment batches and resolving queries. Communicate discrepancies and coordinate with Regional and Country Offices on payment readiness and schedules. Ensure compliance with treasury procedures, internal controls, and segregation of duties. Maintain accurate records for audit support and report control breaches. Manage the GSSC mailbox, responding to routine queries. Provide timely and professional responses to payment-related inquiries and contribute to workflow improvements.
Work Experience
Requires professional experience in treasury or finance. Experience in the banking industry is a distinct advantage. Knowledge of online banking systems, ERP systems (like Oracle), generally accepted accounting principles, and internal controls is necessary.
