Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading UN agency for migration, promoting humane and orderly migration globally. This role supports the country office's information management needs, facilitating digital strategic objectives and knowledge exchange. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Information Management and Technology Officer.
Job Purpose
The Expedited- Information Management (Database) Associate plays a crucial role in supporting IOM's country office information management requirements. The purpose of this role is to facilitate the digital realization of strategic objectives and promote knowledge exchange within the organization. The incumbent will be actively involved in developing and implementing information management projects, driving the adoption of digital products, and advancing business intelligence and reporting initiatives. This position contributes to optimizing IOM operations through effective information management and technology utilization.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development and maintenance of data systems and analytics to ensure data integrity and provide insights for decision-making, including work on in-house software. Advise on the best use of technology and process improvements to optimize operations. Support the implementation and adoption of digital initiatives and solutions, incorporating information security by design. Aid in collecting business requirements and preparing documentation for efficient, scalable application designs. Develop and maintain code using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Power Apps for business process automation. Contribute to creating reliable documentation for the software development portfolio. Support the design and development of Kobo forms tailored to program needs. Track existing applications and identify performance enhancement opportunities. Participate in piloting and testing innovative solutions. Provide guidance and training to new staff on IM systems.
Work Experience
Experience in developing and deploying n-tier web applications using C#/.NET, and in software support/maintenance. Knowledge of relational databases, data analysis, reporting, modular systems, and the software development lifecycle. Experience in application development methodologies. Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI is advantageous. Experience working in an international organization is beneficial.
Skills
Ability to create mock-ups, application prototypes, and test integrations. Knowledge of integrating security into application development. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical users. Familiarity with issue-tracking systems is an advantage.
