Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. In Guinea, IOM implements the Migrant Protection, Return and Reintegration (MPRR) programme, offering post-arrival assistance, case management, counselling, protection, and reintegration support to returning migrants. This role operates within a complex, high-caseload environment requiring strong field coordination and performance monitoring.
Job Purpose
This Senior Project Associate role is crucial for the effective implementation of IOM's Migrant Protection, Return and Reintegration (MPRR) programme in Guinea. The incumbent will serve as a vital operational link between programme management and field teams, ensuring coordinated activities, quality assurance, and accountability at the field level. The purpose is to support the delivery of essential services to returning migrants, including post-arrival assistance, case management, counselling, protection, and sustainable reintegration. By ensuring standardized workflows, effective communication, and timely data management, the role directly contributes to the programme's success in assisting vulnerable individuals and facilitating their return and reintegration processes.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate will act as the primary field coordination focal point for MPRR activities, ensuring effective communication between programme management and field teams, including government social workers. Responsibilities include coordinating post-arrival and reintegration workflows, monitoring counselling and profiling activities, and ensuring compliance with standard tools and protection principles. The role involves shadowing counselling sessions to assess quality and provide on-the-job coaching. Additionally, the incumbent will support the management of migrant flows, review and validate weekly work plans and activity updates, and identify operational constraints with recommendations. A key duty is verifying timely and systematic updates of the MiMOSA database and facilitating case progression. The role also supports project launches, reintegration activities, and contributes field-based inputs to coordination meetings, reporting, and decision-making, liaising with internal units, partners, and government counterparts as needed.
Work Experience
Requires six years of relevant professional experience with a secondary education, or four years with a Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience in field coordination, case management, counselling, protection, or reintegration programmes, preferably in a humanitarian or migration context, is essential. Experience supervising or coordinating field teams and monitoring performance is also necessary. Familiarity with case management or information systems like MiMOSA is advantageous.
Skills
Strong organizational and coordination skills. Proven ability to monitor quality, performance, and compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including coaching and feedback. Ability to work under pressure in high-volume operational environments. Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel).
