The IOM Guatemala mission, under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator and National Information Management Officer, aims to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and information management functions. Job Purpose
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant in Guatemala supports the strengthening of the mission's monitoring, evaluation, and information management functions. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability, quality, and strategic use of programmatic information across diverse projects, including humanitarian response, early recovery, and development initiatives. The incumbent will play a key role in tracking program implementation, ensuring result traceability, systematizing data, and generating reliable evidence for decision-making. This position also contributes to meeting reporting requirements, enhancing accountability and learning mechanisms, and promoting good information management practices aligned with IOM's standards.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the design and improvement of monitoring systems for timely and verifiable recording of activities and results. The role involves regularly tracking key indicators, collecting, consolidating, cleaning, and validating data from various sources, and ensuring proper disaggregation. Maintaining and updating databases and monitoring tools (Excel, KoboToolbox, OneGMS) to ensure data integrity is essential. The assistant will contribute to preparing periodic quantitative and narrative reports, supporting data quality assurance processes, and providing technical support for coordination with internal units and external stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves contributing to Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) mechanisms, supporting field monitoring missions, documenting lessons learned, and standardizing M&E tools and processes.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, tracking, or project management within humanitarian, development, or international cooperation contexts is required. Experience with projects funded by humanitarian financing mechanisms, including reporting and monitoring compliance, is considered an asset.
Skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including database management and data analysis. Experience with data collection and management tools like KoboToolbox or OneGMS. Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills. Excellent technical writing, reporting, and communication abilities. Knowledge of humanitarian principles and emergency response coordination. Understanding of human mobility dynamics. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
