Job Purpose
This Project Assistant role is crucial for the effective implementation of the "Training, Assistance and Territorial Support for the Efficiency of Assisted Voluntary Returns" project within specific Italian Regions (Lombardia and Sicilia). The incumbent will provide essential support to the Project Manager and Coordinator, ensuring the smooth execution of activities related to assisted voluntary returns counselling services. The role contributes to IOM's mandate of promoting humane migration by assisting vulnerable migrants and facilitating their return processes. By supporting coordination with local stakeholders and maintaining project documentation, the position directly impacts the project's success in delivering services and achieving its objectives, ultimately benefiting both migrants and governmental partners.
Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will provide day-to-day operational support for the Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegration (AVRR) project, assisting staff deployed nationally. Key duties include organizing meetings and training sessions for local stakeholders to promote AVRR options and coordinating with institutional actors. The role involves collecting, verifying, and organizing data on counselling activities and beneficiaries, maintaining project files, and updating databases. Additionally, the assistant will support the preparation of narrative and statistical reports, briefing notes, and other project documentation. They will also aid in the dissemination of project tools and guidance materials, ensure compliance with IOM procedures, and perform other assigned duties by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience working in migration sectors, particularly with vulnerable migrants, is required. Demonstrated experience in coordinating with institutional stakeholders, local authorities, and service providers in the migration field is highly desirable. Previous experience in AVRR counselling is considered an asset.
