Job Purpose
The Programme Associate provides essential support for the implementation and monitoring of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) activities. This role focuses on AVRR counselling processes, protection-related issues, and ensuring quality assurance. Working under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and reporting to higher management, the Associate contributes to the effective delivery of AVRR services, ensuring alignment with IOM standards, policies, and project-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position plays a key role in supporting the development and implementation of training materials and coordinating with internal units and external partners to achieve project objectives.
Responsibilities
Support the supervisor in implementing and monitoring project activities according to work plans and donor requirements. Collect, verify, and consolidate programme data for reporting and internal monitoring, including drafting narrative reports and operational tools. Assist in organizing and delivering counselling training for AVRR staff, facilitating knowledge sharing, and addressing protection issues to ensure consistent quality of services. Support the drafting and revision of counselling-related SOPs and operational guidance. Aid in monitoring AVRR reintegration activities in coordination with country offices and partners, identifying challenges and best practices. Facilitate coordination with internal units, partners, and stakeholders on AVRR implementation. Participate in meetings and technical discussions, providing support on counselling and programme implementation matters.
Work Experience
Experience in migration protection, counselling, or related fields, preferably within international organizations. Demonstrated ability to work independently within guidelines, support programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Proven experience engaging with Italian institutions, civil society, and diaspora groups is required.
Skills
Knowledge of migration protection frameworks, counselling methodologies, and ethical standards. Experience working with partners and stakeholders in donor-funded projects. Strong organizational, drafting, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Intercultural competence.
