Job Purpose
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Manila, Philippines. Under the supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and the Senior Medical and Information Management Assistant, the position is responsible for reception and data entry duties. The Medical Assistant provides essential information to migrants regarding health assessment programs and other IOM services. This role requires flexibility to be assigned tasks within either the reception and data processing unit or the communications centre, ensuring efficient processing and communication for migrants undergoing health assessments.
Responsibilities
In the Communications Centre, responsibilities include providing information to migrants via email and phone, registering them in the IOM database, scheduling and confirming appointments, and relaying messages. This also involves preparing master lists for service providers, maintaining daily statistics on health assessments, and contributing to customer satisfaction evaluations. For Reception and Data Entry, duties encompass explaining the registration and health assessment/TB screening process, verifying applicant identities, entering biodata and required information into the system, capturing and uploading photos, and printing/uploading necessary forms. Maintaining daily statistics and data reporting for health assessments/TB Screening is also a key function.
Work Experience
Experience is required in computer data entry, elaboration, and analysis, or in a call centre environment within a busy institution, preferably medical. Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook) is essential. The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, systematic record-keeping abilities, discretion, a client-oriented approach, and patience, with a willingness to learn new tasks.
Skills
Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute. High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office is mandatory. Knowledge of graphic design is an asset. Familiarity with medical terminology and previous secretarial/archival experience are advantageous.
