Organizational Context

This role supports the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, contributing to AVRR project implementation across various Italian regions.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for assisting in the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) counselling and activities within the project 'Training, Assistance and Territorial Support for the Efficiency of Assisted Voluntary Returns'. The incumbent will support the delivery of AVRR services to Third Country Nationals (TCNs) in Italy, ensuring efficient processing of applications and facilitating returns. The position contributes to IOM's mandate of promoting humane and orderly migration by providing essential support to migrants seeking voluntary return, thereby addressing displacement and facilitating safe pathways.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, and diaspora groups to enhance AVRR information dissemination and referral mechanisms. The role involves providing direct AVRR information sessions and tailored counselling to interested Third Country Nationals. Responsibilities also include assisting migrants in completing AVRR applications, submitting them to competent authorities, and managing related documentation. The incumbent will coordinate with local police and immigration offices to facilitate the assessment and authorization process for AVRR assistance. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the logistical arrangements for migrant transportation, including medical cases, and collecting data for reporting and profiling.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in the migration sector is required, with a focus on direct assistance to migrant populations, including those in vulnerable situations. Proven experience working with Italian institutions at central and local levels, civil society, and diaspora groups is essential. Experience in a multicultural team environment is also necessary, and prior AVRR counselling experience is considered an asset.
Skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook). Personal commitment, efficiency, drive for results, and ability to work under pressure are essential.
