Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities under the supervision of the Program Manager and Project Officer. The Project Associate will ensure all interventions are conducted in a participatory manner, closely coordinating with local government counterparts and partner organizations. This position is crucial for the effective delivery of WASH projects, contributing to IOM's mission of supporting people on the move and addressing displacement challenges through essential services and interventions.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing WASH needs data. Serve as the focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal units and external parties to process requests and follow up on actions. Support procurement processes by preparing requisitions and technical evaluations, and follow up on payments to service providers. Draft status reports, correspondence, and other project documentation, ensuring timely delivery and suggesting remedial actions. Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and maintain project files. Monitor field activities and partner implementation, reporting any non-compliance. Participate in donor meetings and field visits, coordinating activities with local authorities and stakeholders. Provide guidance to junior staff and perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Experience in monitoring and supervision of WASH projects, particularly water supply systems. Experience in preparing work plans, bills of quantities, and cost estimations for WASH interventions. Proven experience liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and IDPs is required. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Project). Knowledge of Mozambican Water and Sanitation regulations and relevant standards. Desired knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS or similar) and design software (AutoCAD or similar).
