Job Purpose
This role supports various IOM programs, including migration management and reintegration, by conducting essential data collection activities. The enumerator will gather information from migrants, returnees, displaced populations, and host communities through quantitative and qualitative methods. Selected candidates will be added to an Enumerator Roster and deployed as needed to support critical data collection exercises. This position is crucial for providing the necessary data to inform IOM's programming and interventions, ensuring effective support for vulnerable populations and contributing to the organization's overall mission of promoting humane migration.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include conducting individual interviews, household surveys, and focus group discussions using structured questionnaires, both face-to-face and remotely. The enumerator will ensure data completeness and accuracy through follow-up interviews and record relevant observations. They will also support documentation of case studies and human stories, and capture high-quality photos with consent. Adherence to IOM guidelines and code of conduct is paramount, including ensuring confidentiality, informed consent, and data protection. The role involves conducting interviews in the respondent's preferred language, respecting dignity and rights, and participating in mandatory training. Other duties include coordinating fieldwork schedules, timely submission of data, ensuring data accuracy, keeping daily records, reporting challenges, and communicating professionally with stakeholders.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in data collection, surveys, or field assessments is required. Experience working with migrants, vulnerable populations, or on humanitarian/development projects is an asset. Familiarity with digital data collection tools is also advantageous.
