Job Purpose
This Senior Movement Operations Associate (Field Support) role is crucial for overseeing field-based movement operations, particularly within the AVRR framework. The position operates under the general supervision of the Project Manager and direct supervision of the Reintegration Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for managing teams, coordinating services at airports and transit centers, ensuring the well-being of beneficiaries during transit, and liaising with various stakeholders. This role directly contributes to the safe and orderly movement of migrants and refugees, aligning with IOM's mandate and the objectives of programs like the Migrant Protection, Return, and Reintegration Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa (MPRR-SSA).
Responsibilities
The Senior Movement Operations Associate (Field Support) will coordinate and supervise field teams, ensuring high-quality execution of support activities. Responsibilities include managing airport services such as document verification, escorting passengers, and assisting those with specific needs. Coordination extends to transit centers and third-party facilities, ensuring organized procedures for arrivals and departures, and maintaining safe, clean environments. The role involves coordinating timely provision of meals and essential services, managing pre-departure formalities, and providing extended on-site supervision. Additionally, the Associate will coordinate transportation, liaise with external partners and other IOM units, assist with financial activities, train team members, and ensure compliance with SOPs and conduct standards. The position requires professional conduct, adherence to data protection rules, and commitment to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse.
Work Experience
Previous experience in movement operations, transport, and/or management is highly desirable. Experience in programs involving movement operations, particularly resettlement programs, is beneficial. Experience in team supervision and communication with beneficiaries and external partners is also required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously, focus on results, and perform under pressure. Problem-solving aptitude and leadership competencies. Fluency in French and English is required.
