Job Purpose
This role supports IOM's Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) unit by contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of IBG activities. The position involves reviewing project documents, coordinating administrative tasks, and facilitating knowledge management through organizing events and updating information systems. The associate will also support regional and multi-country programs, assist in developing knowledge products, and liaise with various stakeholders, including government authorities and international partners. The aim is to strengthen IOM's capacity and impact in the field of border governance and migration management, ensuring alignment with organizational procedures and objectives.
Responsibilities
Provide support for the development, implementation, and monitoring of Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) activities. Review and ensure the quality of IBG project concept notes, reports, and proposals, adhering to IOM's project development procedures. Monitor IBG-related developments in country offices and assist in developing project proposals. Serve as the focal point for administrative coordination within the IBG Unit, liaising with internal and external parties. Support regional knowledge management by organizing webinars, meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Coordinate Unit information management, including updating archives and project monitoring lists. Assist in the implementation of regional and multi-country IBG programs, identifying synergies with other thematic areas. Support the development and updating of knowledge tools such as training materials and policy briefs. Participate in meetings and conferences, maintaining liaison with relevant local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in migration issues, preferably with IOM. Experience in collaborating on IBG projects and programs is desirable. Proven experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, and NGOs is required.
Skills
Expertise in thematic areas relevant to IBG project development. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes. Experience in government service within the thematic area is a distinct advantage.
