Job Purpose
This internship program is designed to attract talented students and graduates with a specific interest in or relevant studies concerning IOM's programmes and activities. It targets individuals enrolled in their final year of a university degree (minimum Bachelor's level) or recent graduates within the last 12 months, aged between 20 and 36. The program aims to provide practical experience in migration management, offering opportunities to contribute to IOM's mission of promoting humane and orderly migration. Interns will gain exposure to international cooperation, project support, and the operational aspects of migration services, fostering professional development within a UN-related agency.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the general operations of assisted voluntary returns and reintegration programs, liaising with IOM offices, Swiss return counsellors, and authorities. Responsibilities include assisting the project manager with program implementation, case management, reporting, and documentation. The role also involves supporting communication efforts by preparing background documents, updating communication materials, and managing website and social media content. Additionally, the intern will assist in the implementation of Swiss resettlement, family reunification, and humanitarian visa programs, including preparing arrivals, ensuring information flow, and compiling reports. Event planning and general administrative support are also expected.
Work Experience
Working experience in the field of migration is considered an advantage.
Skills
Excellent knowledge of German, French, and English is required. Proficiency in these languages will be assessed during the selection process.
