Project Associate - Partnerships (wash)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, seeks a Project Associate for its Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program. This role supports project implementation through partners, operating from the IOM Sub Office and requiring frequent field visits to seven camps where IOM serves as the Area Focal Agency.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will support the WASH Programme Manager and National Programme Officer in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of WASH interventions by partners in Cox's Bazar. This involves ensuring timely and quality delivery of services aligned with project objectives and contractual obligations. The role requires close liaison with the grants team and implementing partners, regular field monitoring, and reporting on progress and challenges. The incumbent will contribute to strengthening partner capacity, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate project records to support effective program management and donor reporting within the humanitarian response context.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the day-to-day coordination of implementing partner activities for timely and quality WASH intervention delivery. This involves monitoring partner performance through field visits and progress reviews, verifying outputs against work plans and standards, and reporting deviations. The role supports the review of partner work plans, budgets, and reports, providing feedback for improved compliance and efficiency. Tracking project milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, and following up on outstanding actions are crucial. The associate will assist the grants unit in developing and maintaining partnership monitoring tools, maintaining accurate partnership records, and coordinating compliance submissions. Consolidating partner reports and field findings will support internal updates and donor reporting. Additionally, the role involves assisting in organizing field meetings to identify challenges and support capacity building, as well as managing administrative partnership aspects and participating in field monitoring visits.
Work Experience
Required experience includes humanitarian response in WASH or related fields (Health, Environmental Health, Community Development) and operational field experience in refugee camps. Project implementation, management, monitoring, and reporting experience are advantageous.
