Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Washington D.C. supports the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). This role is within the Department of Mobility Pathways and Inclusion (MPI), specifically the Resettlement and Movement Management Division (RMM), which oversees global resettlement programs. The TLP Repayment Associate operates under the direct supervision of the Senior TLP Associate and the overall supervision of the Head of USRAP TLP.
Job Purpose
The TLP Repayment Associate is responsible for managing all aspects of the Travel Loan Program (TLP) for participants, including those with outstanding debts or fully paid loans. This involves direct communication with TLP Participants to address loan matters, guided by IOM principles and adhering to federal, state, and regulatory guidelines. The role contributes to the effective administration of the travel loan and collections program, a key component of IOM's comprehensive support for the USRAP, which includes case processing, health assessments, cultural orientation, and transportation.
Responsibilities
Initiate outreach calls to participants with overdue accounts, ensuring legal compliance and discussing repayment options. Review and accurately enter data into relevant systems, documenting all contact results and notes. Respond to participant inquiries via phone and email regarding their accounts. Negotiate repayment agreements and prepare/distribute repayment letters. Assist participants with questions and registration for the TLP WebPortal. Maintain a thorough understanding of SOPs, databases, and IOM Standards of Conduct, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity. Uphold RMM Protection Mainstreaming Minimum Standards and demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, and awareness of PSEA. Report any safeguarding concerns or non-compliance to supervisors.
Work Experience
Experience in office management, accounting, or bookkeeping is required. Experience in billing and collections is advantageous. Experience with the USRAP Travel Loan Program is a distinctive advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel). Strong verbal communication and persuasion skills. Ability to manage work pressure with motivation and resilience. Familiarity with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is highly advantageous.
