Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) promotes humane and orderly migration. In Guatemala, IOM implements the "Empowering Women and Girls" project, funded by the Government of Canada. This project aims to reduce irregular migration risks and enhance the protection and reintegration of migrant girls and women. The consultancy supports the project's strategic objective on preventing and responding to gender-based violence.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to adapt the "Ambassadors of Trust" training guide into two versions: 2.0 for girls and boys (aged 12+) and 2.1 for men (aged 18+). The goal is to expand community capacity in preventing gender-based violence affecting girls and women, and to improve guidance on available support services. The adaptation will involve developing the guides, conducting validation sessions with target groups in Santa Apolonia, Chimaltenango, and producing final, updated versions based on feedback. This contributes to the project's objective of reducing violence and promoting protection and reintegration.
Responsibilities
The consultant will adapt the "Ambassadors of Trust" guide into version 2.0 for children (12+) and version 2.1 for men (18+). This includes developing work schedules, drafting and revising the guides, and creating work plans and methodological guides for validation sessions. The consultant will organize and conduct one-day validation sessions for each guide with 15 participants per group in Santa Apolonia, Chimaltenango. Responsibilities also include preparing minutes of coordination meetings, compiling participant databases with informed consent, and producing a final report on validation findings. The consultant will deliver final, updated versions of both guides (v2.0 and v2.1) in Word format, incorporating feedback from validation sessions and OIM reviews.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience in developing training materials, particularly on gender-based violence or protection issues, is required. Experience in adapting content for different age groups and conducting participatory validation sessions is essential. Familiarity with the context of migration in Central America is highly desirable.
Skills
Strong analytical and writing skills. Proficiency in adapting complex information for diverse audiences. Experience in project management and report writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for facilitating validation sessions. Knowledge of gender-based violence prevention and response strategies. Familiarity with IOM's mandate and work in migration is a plus.
