Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), an affiliated UN agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. This consultancy is part of the 'Empowering Women and Girls' program in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, focusing on protection, social, and economic reintegration for women and girls in migration. The role supports community-level interventions and local ownership.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to support the implementation of community-based interventions within the 'Empowering Women and Girls' program. The role involves facilitating participatory spaces, providing support to women and local organizations, and coordinating with community and institutional actors. Key objectives include developing local capacities, strengthening existing community support mechanisms, and promoting sustainable reintegration, protection, and economic empowerment for women and girls affected by migration. The consultant will act as a trusted liaison, fostering active participation and strengthening support networks, while ensuring confidentiality and a gender-sensitive approach.

Responsibilities

The consultant will maintain constant communication with the project team, fostering synergies for activity implementation and coordinating with local stakeholders to enhance project visibility. Responsibilities include facilitating the integration of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, coordinating information validation and transfer, and documenting processes with verification records. The role involves proposing contextualized actions to strengthen project implementation and developing monthly reports detailing activities, progress, challenges, and follow-up actions. Specific duties include preparing workshop materials, coordinating participant invitations and follow-up, supporting the logistics of project events, and assisting with outreach and promotion strategies. The consultant will provide direct support for mental health activities, psychosocial support workshops, and empowerment initiatives for women and girls, including economic, social, and community empowerment components.

Work Experience

Proven experience in community work, particularly with women, girls, youth, indigenous peoples, or vulnerable groups. Experience in facilitating training, workshops, group sessions, or other participatory activities for women and girls. Experience in coordination with community and institutional actors, including women's organizations and local authorities. Experience in women's empowerment, gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence, MHPSS, or community participation is valued.
