Job Purpose
This consultancy supports the implementation of the Andriry MILAMY project in southern Madagascar, focusing on reinforcing peacebuilding achievements in remote, marginalized, and conflict-vulnerable areas. The project aims to enhance social cohesion and improve access to peace dividends for communities within the Andriry mountain massif, which has historically been isolated and underserved. By integrating humanitarian, development, and peace initiatives, the project seeks to foster sustainable peace and development, building on previous successes and addressing accessibility challenges to ensure inclusive participation and strengthen trust in the state.
Responsibilities
The consultant will coordinate the remaining activities of the Andriry MILAMY project in Madagascar, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines. This includes overseeing implementation, monitoring progress, and reporting on project activities in collaboration with the project team and partners. The role involves managing project execution, identifying and mitigating risks, and proposing actions to accelerate results. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing and submitting timely narrative and financial reports to the donor, supporting the Chief of Mission with presentations and briefing materials, and undertaking field travel as necessary to ensure effective project implementation and reporting.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in development project management, including operational and field experience, is required. Experience in implementing projects in conflict or vulnerable contexts, managing relationships with governmental and diplomatic authorities, and organizing stakeholder consultations is essential. Experience in promoting social cohesion, conflict resolution, and building trust among diverse communities is also necessary. Project management experience related to construction is considered an advantage.
Skills
Excellent writing and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with government authorities, national and international organizations, and project partners. The ability to interpret information, analyze problems, and propose solutions is crucial. Demonstrated understanding of internal migration issues within the country and region is required. Strong coordination, information management, conceptualization, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary. The candidate must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
