Job Purpose

This Movement Operations Associate role is crucial for supporting beneficiary-facing activities within IOM's movement operations. The purpose is to ensure the safe, secure, and appropriate movement of migrants and refugees across various programs, including resettlement, relocation, and humanitarian initiatives. The associate will coordinate field support, manage transportation, provide essential assistance, and ensure the needs of individuals, especially those with special requirements, are met throughout their journey. This role directly contributes to IOM's mandate of facilitating orderly migration and protecting people on the move.

Responsibilities

The Movement Operations Associate will manage beneficiary-facing activities across various stages of migration programs, including resettlement, relocation, and humanitarian initiatives. Key duties involve coordinating field support at transit points like airports and camps, ensuring safe and appropriate transportation for beneficiaries, and providing essential items such as food. The role requires special attention to individuals with specific needs, including unaccompanied minors and at-risk cases, ensuring their safety and comfort. Responsibilities also include assisting with pre-departure formalities, processing travel documents in coordination with external agencies, and accurately entering and updating data in relevant systems. The associate will also provide support for selection missions and interpretation services, and may assist government agencies with visa application processes. Upholding IOM's Standards of Conduct, data protection rules, and protection mainstreaming standards is paramount.

Work Experience

Prior experience in Movement Operations, transportation-related roles, or management is essential. Experience within programs involving movement operations, particularly resettlement initiatives, is highly valued. Candidates should have experience communicating directly with beneficiaries and possess knowledge of handling sensitive personal data. Familiarity with Movement Operations databases and systems is a significant advantage, as is experience guiding junior staff.
