Organizational Context

In Greece, specifically Crete, IOM implements the 'Helios+' program to integrate third-country nationals into the labor market. This involves employability support, language courses, vocational training, and social cohesion activities, working closely with national and local authorities.

Job Purpose

This role supports the integration of beneficiaries of international and temporary protection into Greek society within the 'Helios+' program in Crete. The Assistant will facilitate access to services, promote social cohesion, and disseminate project information. The position requires close collaboration with municipal authorities and local stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and support the overall goals of IOM's migration management initiatives. The role contributes to creating pathways for regular migration and strengthening support for people on the move.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include supporting social cohesion events and disseminating project information to local communities and municipal authorities. The role involves maintaining communication with municipal bodies and local stakeholders to enhance service access and mainstreaming. The Assistant will support municipal working groups, develop tools to monitor event impact, and conduct local service mapping. Ensuring strong working relationships with municipal authorities and service providers is crucial. The position also involves identifying integration challenges and opportunities, and supporting the supervisor in facilitating local coordination and promoting social integration initiatives.

Work Experience

Previous work experience in a similar role, particularly with public or municipal entities, is preferred. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is also considered an advantage for this position.

Skills

Proficiency in standard computer applications is required. Strong work ethics and a commitment to humanitarian principles are essential. A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage. Fluency in English and Greek (oral and written) is mandatory.
