Job Purpose
This internship aims to support a critical organizational need within IOM's Global WASH Unit by enhancing knowledge management and communication efforts. The role will focus on managing documentation systems, coordinating the WASH Community of Practice (CoP), and developing communication and visual products. These activities are essential for supporting global WASH coordination and facilitating knowledge sharing across IOM's extensive network. The intern will contribute to improving the visibility and learning outcomes of WASH programming by organizing information, fostering collaboration within the CoP, and creating engaging materials that highlight program impact and innovations. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in knowledge management, project coordination, and visual communication within a leading international humanitarian organization.
Responsibilities
The intern will conduct a comprehensive audit and reorganize WASH-related shared drives and document repositories to improve discoverability and knowledge retrieval, implementing standardized folder structures. Responsibilities include disseminating WASH news and resources to the Community of Practice (CoP), developing project SharePoint sites, and coordinating updates with the Innovation and Knowledge Management Unit. The role also involves supporting the logistics for global WASH meetings, both virtual and in-person, including managing agendas, calendar invites, meeting notes, and action item tracking. Furthermore, the intern will develop visually compelling infographics, data visualizations, and promotional materials to communicate WASH programming highlights, impact metrics, and innovation examples, enhancing internal communication and external visibility.
Work Experience
Ideal candidates will have experience in knowledge management systems, documentation management, or SharePoint administration. Experience in project coordination, administrative support, or event management within international or non-profit settings is beneficial. Skills in graphic design, infographic creation, or visual communications, as well as data management and spreadsheet analysis, are also advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with familiarity in Office 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). Strong organizational skills for managing large volumes of information and understanding of knowledge management principles. Competence in creating visual materials (infographics, presentations) and strong written/verbal communication skills. Basic understanding of project management fundamentals and attention to detail are essential.
